The boy giggled at the confusion on their faces. This prank continued for a few more days. However, one morning, a real wolf actually charge at the flock. The shepherd boy ran here for aid shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one showed up.

Frustrated and alone, the boy fought against the wolf but managed to protect only few of his sheep. Heartbroken, he returned to the town only to receive a reprimand on honesty and the repercussions of false alarms.

The tale of this shepherd boy has been passed down generations as a mediaeval parable for teaching the importance of honesty, the consequences of lying and the dangers of crying wolf. Moreover, it highlights how trust once broken, is hard to regain. It's a story as pertinent today as it was then.
